A Motherhood & Family Photographer Who Captures Real Life, Not Perfection

Before my second child was born, I felt like I had lost a bit of the creativity in myself and the spark that made me love capturing stories through my lens. I was photographing on the side while navigating a career that wasn’t my true passion, and I realized that the way I had been taught to photograph wasn’t enough. There’s so much more to capturing a moment than what’s in front of your eyes. It's about the emotion, the connection, and the story behind every single person.
As a motherhood and family photographer, that realization changed everything.
How Motherhood Changed the Way I Photograph Families
Raising children quickly taught me that life doesn’t happen on a schedule. Between a baby discovering something new every day and an older child whose social calendar is busier than mine, I learned to slow down and truly take in the little moments. Instead of trying to control a scene, I began to observe it.
I notice the way your child laughs mid-chaos, the quiet moments of connection, the quick looks that tell a story.
That's the shift that transformed my approach to lifestyle and family photography.
Lifestyle Photography That Lets Kids Be Kids
Motherhood gave me a new lens, literally. I see now how quick these precious seasons are and the way your child grabs your hand, sneaks a hug in or the tiny toes that you kiss time and time again will someday be a memory you hold onto forever. The juggling, the chaos, the endless calendar coordination and the teamwork between partners will eventually be gone but photographs won't.
So now, when I photograph families, motherhood sessions, or intimate lifestyle portraits, I don’t chase perfection. I watch for the way a baby or toddler rests their head on your shoulder, the laughter that shows up unexpectedly, sibling bonds that speak louder than words, hands that naturally find each other and the emotions that are irreplaceable.
These are the moments you’ll want to remember, not just the ones that look “perfect" but the ones that feel real.
Motherhood has taught me to let kids be kids. They don’t need to be posed into stillness, they need space to explore and be exactly who they are in that seasons. That's why during family photography sessions, I let the children lead and encourage movement, play and curiosity and we go at their own pace.
A Photographer Who Understands Mothers, Because I Am One
Motherhood has made me softer, more patient and deeply attuned to the human experience behind every photograph.
I see the exhaustion in moms, because I live it too. I understand the nerves before a session and relate to the common voice in our heads saying "Gosh darnit, I hope my kids behave." Because the reality is, sometimes they just want to do their own thing and that is perfectly okay! We adjust and move onto the next thing until they are ready to come back.
When you step in front of my camera, I'm seeing the connection between you and your family. The love, the joy and passion you all have for each other because there is something so beautiful about photographing you as you are.
